Trained at the Julian Academy in the 1900s, he began engraving with his friend Boutet de Monvel. He developed his creativity in the world of horse racing, going so far as to create scarves for Hermès. From 1905, Maurice Taquoy participated in particular in the Salon d'Automne of which he was a member, the Salon des Indépendants and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Today his works are found in several museums. Note the audacity of the artist who sketched a scene of life rarely captured in the graphic arts. Maurice Taquoy (1878-1952) is a French painter, illustrator and lithographer, especially known for his representations of the equestrian world (horse races, riders, stud farms), but also for his war scenes, his portraits and his landscapes.
