Beautiful patina of use for this ancient mask called "Brag" referring to the mythical male spirit called "Parak". The Parak spirit is linked to initiation ceremonies as well as hunting. He is supposed to help the hunter flush out game. The region of origin of this type of mask is located in the Mambe lands, on the north coast of Papua New Guinea, from the mouth of the Sepik River to the west, in the eastern regions of Kairiru Island.
