Francis Garat (1870- ?

Painter and watercolorist, originally from Bordeaux, he nevertheless made his career in Paris and specialized in views of the capital.
He was a member of the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, from 1898.

From the Place de La Concorde to the Gare Saint-Lazare, Garat never stopped observing Paris, its society, its changes, its upheavals. These are two paintings full of life that the artist offers us, always with great delicacy and multiple details, perfectly depicting the joyful Paris of the end of the 19th century.

He enjoyed great success during his lifetime "applauded in a first exhibition, at the Figaro, he has just triumphed at the Galerie Georges Petit", we can read in the press of the time
