The 19th century green patinated cast iron horse is often directly inspired by the works of animal sculptors such as: • Pierre-Jules Mêne: calm or walking horses, very elegant, often reproduced. • Antoine-Louis Barye: powerful horses, sometimes in motion or in dramatic situations. • Isidore Bonheur: more naturalistic poses, often rural or country. These original works, often in bronze, were reproduced or freely interpreted in cast iron by foundries
