PIETRO BAZZANTI (Florence 1825-1895)
Italian sculptor. He is associated with the sculptors Cesare Lapini, Ferdinando Vichi (1875-1940) and Guglielmo Pugi, who all worked in the workshop created by his father Niccolò Bazzanti in 1822. Pietro Bazzanti is a central figure in Florentine sculptural production of the late 19th century. He specialized in allegorical and genre subjects as well as in copies of antique and Renaissance sculptures. Considered one of the most talented sculptors of his time, his Florence studio became a center for other important sculptors whose works were inscribed Galleria Bazzanti or Gallery Bazzanti for the British or American market.
