Musical Pocket Watch – Dev. Bouly, London, C. 1810–1830

Exceptional English pocket watch in 22-carat gold, signed Dev. Bouly, London, featuring a hand-wound mechanical movement and musical repeater. The outer case, fully chased and pierced, displays a neoclassical scene with ancient figures in conversation near columns and drapery – a fine example of Empire-style ornamentation.
The inner movement is elaborately engraved and gilded with floral motifs and acanthus scrolls. It includes a visible hammer-and-gong carillon, activated on demand by a lever or winding key. The enamel dial bears Roman numerals for hours and Arabic numerals for minutes, with pierced gilt hands.
An extremely rare piece, showcasing the excellence of early 19th-century English horology, likely made for aristocratic or royal patronage.
