Oil on panel signed lower right by André Michel, French painter, engraver, illustrator (1908 - 1975). This painting depicts passers-by strolling along the quays of Paris in front of the famous green boxes of Parisian booksellers and Notre Dame Cathedral, in the 1930s. Note the very beautiful carved and gilded wooden frame from Maison Gault. André Michel entered the École des Beaux Arts in the studio of Emile Renard. A brilliant, recognized student, he entered the Musée du Domaine Départemental de Sceaux and the BNF collection in the prints department.
