According to Charles Buttin (see catalog of the collection of ancient European and Oriental weapons of Cahrles Buttin); this type of blade was reserved for the black guards of the sultans. Beautiful handle in blond horn. Silver scabbard chiseled with arabesques and floral motifs. Some small dents in the silver.
