The names of the painter and the engraver appear at the bottom on both sides. They come from the portfolio of Mr. Néra. They are magnificently highlighted by their patinated solid wood frame richly decorated with acanthus leaves and fleur-de-lis corners. Red chalk print tending towards sepia. Dimensions: At sight: 5.8 cm x 7.8 cm With their frames: 11.5 cm x 13.5 cm Very good condition. Entirely original. Old mounting otherwise original. Minor alterations to the frames. A 23rd-century Liège engraver, Gilles Demarteau invented pencil-style engraving, which was in vogue before being dethroned in the 19th century by lithography. He went to Paris and became friends with the painters Fragonard, Van Loo, and especially François Boucher. His process made him famous. He reproduced many drawings by the great masters of the time.
