A George II sterling silver tankard, William Dalton, Newcastle, 1747
Of gently tapering cylindrical form upon a spreading foot, the body with an applied central girdle, the double domed hinged lid raised by a scroll thumbpiece, with a moulded hinge section. The double C scroll handle unusually terminating in a large cast splayed scallop shell.
