An early Victorian sterling silver soup tureen, William Ker Reid, London, 1838
In the Rococo Revival taste and with hand chased details throughout, topped by an oval lobed dome form lid enclosed by a flat undulating rim and surmounted by an entwined acanthus leaves detailed handle, continuing to a bed of fruiting acanthine foliage above sides centering paired armorial shields engraved with emblems and Latin mottoes, resting on a conforming "C" scroll and bloom cast rim partitioned by shell pendants, over lobed bombé sides.
