"Maurice Marchant, Watercolor Of Ardvreck Castle, Scottish Highlands"
Maurice Marchant is a watercolorist active in the 20th century, often associated with maritime, coastal or countryside landscapes, typical of the United Kingdom. There is very little documentation on this artist in the major databases (Benezit, Akoun, Artnet), as he seems to have been a regional or gallery painter rather than one of great museum renown. This landscape could very well represent the Scottish Highlands, around the lochs with medieval ruins presumably Ardvreck Castle. The ruin is not architecturally precise enough to identify with certainty, but the natural context (mountains, shore, low clouds) is typical of these Atlantic regions. Dimensions: 37x25 cm
