LOTO DAUPHIN game, France 18th century, with 10 boards resting on 4 turned feet, numbered from 1 to 90, each slot pierced to plant a fichet, in a pink cardboard box, two levels containing 12 double baskets of bone fichets in 4 colors, yellow, white, blue and red, including a dozen dolphin-shaped fichets.
Large white wooden box to store everything, used condition. .
Dimensions: 26cm x 23cm. Good condition, fichets are superb and numerous, intended for 10 players.
Paper show normal traces of wear, one or two boards a little warped.
Flaw We are missing the numbered tokens, originally made of turned wood and paper.
Sotheby's, (thanks for this text): Dauphin lotto was marketed from 1775 by table maker Vaugeois to overcome the monotony of classic lottos. Tradition attributes the conception of this game to Louis XVI, developed to amuse his son the Dauphin. Now forgotten, it was until 1914 one of the favorite games of the French aristocracy.
