Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro (1846-1905), Portuguese artist. Draughtsman, watercolorist, illustrator, decorator, political and social caricaturist, journalist, ceramist, playwright, professor, his career was rich and varied. The most popular Art Nouveau artist in his country, he founded his workshop in 1884 and made inventive use of ornaments. Also a precursor of the artistic poster in Portugal, he produced a vast body of work that can be found in dozens of books and publications.
