Joseph CORMIER was born on January 18, 1869, died on April 24, 1950, Joseph-Jules-Emmanuel Descomps became Joseph Cormier after the First World War. Auvergne sculptor, student of Louis Auguste Hiolin, Joe Descomps or Joseph Cormier also tried his hand at various artistic techniques such as drawing, watercolor, painting and ceramics. A very renowned sculptor, his favorite subject was the female nude, a subject that he knew how to enhance by sculpting mainly bronze but also ivory. Some subjects are treated using the terracotta technique, requiring great mastery of modeling and line.
This 1925 sculptor, steeped in Art Nouveau, gradually infused his works with the Art Deco spirit. Joe Descomps worked with the best bronze foundries, such as Susse Frères or Etling Paris.
