"Rosewood And Marquetry Dressing Table, Charles X Period – Early 19th Century"
Splendid Parisian dressing table, a testament to the expertise of early 19th-century cabinetmakers. Crafted from rosewood veneer and subtly inlaid with lemonwood marquetry, it embodies the elegance and refinement of the Charles X era. Its swan-necked cheval mirror is distinguished by an oval mirror framed with delicate marquetry of flowers and garlands of leaves. Mounted on a scrolled structure, it pivots on an axis adorned at each end with a chiseled bronze pine cone. The top, in Carrara marble, features a finely carved oval in the stone. This piece of furniture opens at the waist with a slightly recessed drawer, embellished with a rich marquetry decoration of fillets, foliage, flowers, and scrolls. It is equipped with a functional lock and key. The whole rests on two imposing scrolled console legs, also adorned with lemonwood inlays with a palmette motif. The lower part reveals a concave base enhanced by sumptuous marquetry, while the rear uprights retain their straight line, ensuring harmony and balance to this exceptional piece. ******** Period: Early 19th century Excellent condition.
