"Silk Embroidery Panel, Late 19th Century "
- On a light background embroidered in a crisscross pattern, the decoration consists of large acanthus leaf scrolls combined with naturally embroidered flowers (roses, peonies, dahlias, etc.). The serpentine lines of the plants wrap around elements that are sometimes rectilinear and sometimes rounded. This decoration also includes a coat of arms in the center, the meaning of which remains to be identified. This panel is distinguished by the countless embroidery stitches required to achieve such a work. Made of silk threads, the embroidery of the colorful plant scrolls and flowers stands out from the light background (also made of silk threads) and offers a pleasant contrast with the rectilinear and rounded elements embroidered with golden metallic threads on a silk core. - Embroidered canvas mounted on a frame, mechanical gold braid affixed all around. The legibility of the patterns allows this panel to be arranged vertically as well as horizontally
- Old restorations and additions of pieces are to be noted (see photos).
