""oasis In Guinea", Watercolor Signed Henri Pontoy, Circa 1930-40."
Henri Pontoy (1888-1968) lived in Morocco from 1927 to 1947, where he created his Studio in Rabat. He then traveled to North Africa, then with the painter Majorelle, to West Africa and notably to Guinea. Our watercolor, located in Guinea, is a haven of greenery, light and freshness. Nature is alone represented in all its richness of colors and with the talent of the orientalist painter. On the back a handwritten annotation "Atelier PONTOY, watercolor GUINEE" and the label of his Studio in Rabat, Morocco, with a map of the city. Beautiful original gilded frame (38.5x51)
