The painted scene shows a peaceful mountain landscape with a flowering cherry tree, tiered pagoda, and rustic houses beside a stream. The base bears a red and gold rectangular cartouche reading Heian (平安), referring to Kyoto’s historical name and linking the vase to studios active in the region around the 1890s.
This piece is a well-preserved example of small-scale Kyoto Satsuma export ware, notable for its detail, symbolism, and elegant form. Condition: excellent condition.
