"Napoleon III Period Gilt Bronze Fireplace Surround"
Impressive mantelpiece set consisting of a central clock and two nine-armed candelabra, in finely chiseled and gilded bronze, with black marble elements. This set, typical of the Napoleon III period (second half of the 19th century), presents a remarkable ornamental richness: garlands, acanthus, scrolls and floral motifs, all of great finesse of execution. The central clock, resting on a richly decorated base, is surmounted by a medallion adorned with profiles of women in relief and surrounded by floral motifs. The dial, with Roman numerals, is in gilded and black bronze, with original openwork hands. The two matching candelabras each feature nine light arms on several levels, decorated with vine branches and foliage motifs. Signe Trussaert compagnie à Gand.
