"Empire Period Box In Burl And Brass, Monogram Je Or Ej"
Jewelry or travel box in burl veneer decorated with brass reinforcements, escutcheon cartouche engraved with the monogram JE or EJ. The interior has a wallet in gilded paper with small irons. Work from the end of the Empire period in the 1810s. The cladding corner reinforcements are intended to make the box more robust to falls that could be created by rolling on a boat at sea. A refined object suitable for the daily life of a dandy or for a jewelry box. Very good condition, cleaned and revived by our cabinetmaker. No accidents, except for a small jump in the veneer in a low corner. The wrought iron key is period, adapted to the model, but not the original. Length: 25cm Width: 17cm Height: 10.5cm
