Post-impressionist painter Frédéric Houbron creates numerous views and genre scenes in the fin de siècle spirit. His particular vision is often rendered by a twirl of accents. His favorite subjects are Paris, the quays, its small trades and its festivals. He also lived in London. Our gouacher is close to the Japanese taste illustrated by Hoffenbach's "Madame Butterfly"; The Carnavalet Museum preserves a view of Paris.
