Superb Heliodor Crystal Glass Candle Holder by Arik Levy for Gaia & Gino, 2005, Height 30 cmDiameter 16 cmPERFECT CONDITION COLLECTIBLE RARE TO FIND Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1963, Arik Levy served in the Israeli army before managing a graphic design studio and surf shop in Tel Aviv between 1985 and 1988. After participating in a first group exhibition of outdoor sculptures in Tel Aviv in 1986, he moved to Europe and settled in Geneva in 1988. He studied industrial design at the Art Center Europe in Switzerland, and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in 1991. Arik Levy's first international success came that same year, when he won the Seiko Epson Inc. competition. After a stay in Japan, where he deepened his knowledge of product production and exhibitions, Arik Levy returned to Europe at the end of 1991 and focused on another field: set design for contemporary dance and opera. After this experience, he moved to Paris and taught design at the Ecole nationale Supérieur de création industrielle between 1992 and 1994. In 1992, he founded the Arik Levy Art & Design studio, which designs brand identities, products, lamps, packaging, signage, exhibitions, and interior design. Today, Arik Levy still lives and works in Paris, and divides his time between artworks, monumental sculptures, and his design studio. His notable projects include the WorkIt desk system (2010) and the SilentWall organization system for Vitra. But also the WireFlow lighting collection for Vibia (2013), the Tuile lamp collection for Baccarat (2013), and the furniture and equipment for the Cartier headquarters in Paris, in collaboration with Vitra. Other clients include Hennessy, Molteni & C, Viccarbe, Swarovski, Tai Ping, Issey Miyake Parfums, Ligne Roset, and LG Electronics. Arik Levy's work is exhibited around the world in numerous public and private collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée National d'Art Moderne at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Seoul Art Center, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Arik Levy has received multiple awards and honors, including a Wallpaper Design Award and a Design Plus power by Light+Building awards for Wireflow in 2014. He also received a Best of Year award for his Fold lighting collection for Vibia (2013), a Good Design Award for Pattern, his outdoor furniture collection for Vibia (2011), a Red Dot Design Award for Best Product Design for the SHO5 Arie shelving system by E15, and the Designer of the Year award from Elle.
