Twisted carafe in cut crystal and 950 thousandths solid silver, Tétard Frères, Paris, late 19th century Elegant baluster-shaped wine carafe, in cut crystal with twisted decoration, enhanced with a 950 thousandths solid silver mount (1st title), hallmarked Minerva and signed Tétard Frères. This Parisian work from the late 19th century is distinguished by the quality of its execution, both in the treatment of the crystal and in the goldsmithing. The neck and the spout are topped with a finely molded solid silver hinged lid, the interior of which is entirely vermeiled, as is that of the spout - a precious finish aimed at preserving the qualities of the wine without altering the taste. The crystal is very clear, thick, cut in large regular twists. The carafe is in very good condition, without cracks or stains, showing very few signs of use: a piece rarely preserved in such a pure state. Characteristics Goldsmith: Tétard Frères, Paris Period: Late 19th century Material: Cut crystal and solid silver 950 thousandths Hallmarks: Minerva 1st title + Tétard Frères goldsmith's hallmark Decoration: twisted cut crystal, molded mount, interior of the spout and lid vermeil Dimensions: 27 cm high - 9 cm diameter at the base Condition: excellent, silver and crystal in remarkable condition, very little used
