"Fireplace Plate With The Ihs Logo And The Ornamentation Of Central And Southwestern France (86x80 Cm)"
Fireback cast in the 16th or early 17th century, with characteristic ornamentation (86x80 cm), with the acronym IHS, for Iesus Hominum Salvator, the crosspiece of the H surmounted by a cross, accompanied by two octograms and three ieschrismons ("monogram of Jesus Christ, as used by the first Christians in their mysterious writing"), all pommeled and two four-pointed stars in the sky. A string of bullets encircles the iconography of this plaque. It should be noted a very old and slight crack welded by time in the lower part. Plaque found in Saint Laurent sur Gorre in Haute Vienne.
