"Gate Forged At The End Of The 17th Or Very Beginning Of The 18th Century"
Entrance gate forged in the late 17th or early 18th century, in perfect condition. Its upper portcullis is adorned with alternating flames and peaks crossing the rail through swollen holes. Its central frieze is decorated with curves, counter-curves and an inverted C, all forged in full and in thin with a solid core. The bars are mounted with mortise and tenon joints, each rail is provided with reinforcing gussets. An old closing system was added later, see our last photo. On average, the section of the frames is 38 mm, that of the bars is 25 mm. The height to the axis of the upper hinges, remade identically, is 237 cm. You can visit our website: www.claudeaugustin.com
