5 000 / 5 000 An 18th-century fireback, in perfect condition, bearing the coat of arms of Aimé-Julien Rigod (Rigaud) of Terrebasse, 1726-1793, son of Julien, Alderman of Lyon, Lord of Terrebasse in Dauphiné, St. Romain, Surieux, Assieux, Verniol, St. Alban de Varaize, Vitrieux, Ste. Helena, and other places. He held the offices of Treasurer of France in 1748, President of the Finance Office of the Generality of Lyon, Commissioner of the Council of His Majesty for the Department of Bridges and Roads of Lyon, residing at Place de la Charité (3), guillotined at Place des Terreaux on 27 Frimaire of the Year II (December 17, 1793) (4), and of (with the speaking coat of arms, attributed to) Benoîte Roulet, married in 1753.Anthelme Rigod, 1665-1723, merchant, advisor to the King, then notary in Serrières de Briord (Serrières en Bugey) married to Françoise Desvignes, 1660-1738 is father of four boys including Julien, second son, ≈ 1686-1767, born in Serrieres-sur-Ain, gold merchant, rector of the Hotel-Dieu from 1739 to 1741, then treasurer in 1744 (1), Alderman of Lyon in 1747-1748 (2), curator (judge) of the royal privileges of the fairs of Lyon, married in 1723 in St-Pierre-St-Saturnin in Lyon to Louise Hélène Rivière, 1705-1753, daughter of Antoine, bourgeois of Lyon and Catherine Sonnerat, Alderman and of whom Gabriel, fourth and last children, 1697-1745, married in 1728 to Marguerite Nesme, daughter of Pierre, a merchant and bourgeois of Lyon, and Marie Bancillon.Plaque from the first floor of the building located at the corner of the current Place Antonin Poncet and Quai du Dr. Gailleton, Lyon 2nd arrondissement, whose family was a party to the transaction with the Consulate for the entire plot.In the Revue d'histoire de Lyon, vol. 12 of 1913, it is written: Aimé-Julien was "a rich and daring land speculator, who at that time was negotiating with the Consulate regarding the land between Rue de la Barre, Quai Gailleton, Place de la Charité, and Rue des Marronniers."The architect Joseph-François Desarnod, 1731-1815, "received the gold medal at the Exposition of the Year IX (1800-1801) for the façade of Mr. Rigod de Terrebasse's buildings on the Charité side and the façade facing the Rhône." (or or argent).It should be noted that Mr. Jean Tricou was aware of this plaque or an identical one and noted "Brittany with the arms of Rigod and azure with three annulets of... joined together, identical with the seals of the Com.
