"Large Multi-colored "totem" Plexiglass Sculpture By Artist Roz Stroll (1944-2023) Signed"
Large colorful sculpture, "Totem" unique work in plexiglass or leucite (Acrylic) created in 1995 in Montreal by the artist Roz Stroll. Spectacular multicolored tower is presented here on a transparent base (19.5 x 15 cm) Composed of five inclusions in line of fluorescent yellow, green, orange, purple and red in a translucent mass. Original work in acrylic signed "R.STROLL 1995" Roz Stroll's technique consists of carefully selecting blocks of plexiglass of a precise thickness that she welds under pressure into thin sheets of color. Most of her colors are fluorescent, so the light will be trapped and swept around her. The variation in the quality of light is even more surprising in the sun and throughout the day. Modern and very decorative kinetic composition creating an effect of a changing and moving work when you move around it. Roz Stroll was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1944. She was one of the first Canadian minimalist artists to introduce acrylic sculpture. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal. All her sculptures are original works of art, influenced by the LIGHT and SPACE art movement of California in the 1960s and 1970s. Roz Stroll makes special studies on contemporary underground artists of experimental and avant-garde cinema of Andy Warhol and others. She studies color with Vasarelli and J. Albers from whom she draws her magnificent chromatics for her acrylics. Light is the force of existence in Roz's sculptures. It is the harmony of an infinite variety, it is the power of change both in forms and in color.
