Collected in 1897, Kanak Phallic Club - Oceania, New Caledonia Long club (91cm) with a phallus-shaped head and handle characteristic of the clubs of the Kanak people. Beautiful patina of time and use. Wear and light chips on the head. Provenance: Collected in 1897 by Jean-Baptiste P. then remained in the family. History: Following the defeat of 1870, in order not to become German, Jean-Baptiste P. settled in New Caledonia in the Negropo valley (near Canala). This club was given to him in 1897 by the son of the chief of the Negropo tribe. Then, this puzzle was brought back by the son of Jean Baptiste (who came to mainland France with the French expeditionary force in Oceania in 1914-18) and given to his aunt who remained in Alsace.
