Romantic work in the tradition of Balthasar Paul Ommeganck (1755-1826) and Eugène Verboeckhoven (1798-1881) by the Ghent artist Lucien Gérard, oil on panel.About the artist:Lucien Gérard (1852-1935) was the son of the Ghent landscape painter Théodore Gérard (1829-1902). Like his father, he was particularly fond of domestic genre scenes in which animals are very often depicted. According to the signature, this is a relatively early work by the master. This painting is also still relatively close to his father's style, which confirms that this work must be dated between 1870 and 1880.Condition: This painting and its impressive gilt frame are in good condition and show no visible signs of damage.Dimensions of the work:Unframed: Width: 40.50 cm; Height: 28.00 cmWith frame: Width: 63.00 cm; Height: 50.50 cm
