Jewelry box LOUIS THÉOPHILE HINGRE - L. OUDRY EDITORE - 19th century Splendid oval-shaped jewelry box, in chased silver metal and gilded bronze, decorated with fables by La Fontaine with reserves. The fable “Le Corbeau voulant imiter l'aigle” is depicted on the lid (engraving on the cartouche at the bottom of the reserve). Resting on four feet. The interior is lined in blue fabric, original from the period, unfortunately it is worn in several places. In the front reserve, at the bottom right, the signature T. HINGRE is engraved. Louis Théophile Hingre was a French painter, sculptor, engraver, illustrator and poster artist. He was born in 1832 in Écouen, where he also died in 1911. His specialty was animal sculptures.
