Pure Evil's works blend Street Art and Pop Art. The seriality of Street Art, created using stencils, is a form of Pop Art. By blending Marlene Dietrich and Salvador Dalí, the artist creates a "double icon" and questions the status of iconicity. He also breaks the icon by repeating Marcel Duchamp's gesture of giving the Mona Lisa a mustache.



About the artist

Charles Uzzell-Edwards, also known as “Pure Evil,” moved from London to California in 1990. After studying design, he produced electronic music and designed clothing for over ten years. Inspired by the West Coast graffiti scene, Edwards returned to London and became a street artist. His signature was a vampire rabbit with fangs. He later began creating prints and canvas paintings, often using street art stencils. His work has been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and other cities.
