Signed at the level of the book "A La Lyre" Adolphe La Lyre (1848-1933) is a French painter known for his elegant scenes populated by idealized female figures, often inspired by mythology or allegory. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he made his debut at the Salon in 1876. He favored dreamy compositions, bathed in soft light, with women surrounded by grace and mystery. He received a third-class medal at the 1884 Salon, a silver medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition, and then a gold medal at the 1900 Exposition.
