Very rare "DECEPTION" PITCHER in beige earth with brown speckled glaze. Baluster-shaped, its neck is fitted with openings preventing normal use; the teat is connected at the throat to a hollow rim and the handle, also hollow, communicates with the base of the belly allowing the contents to be consumed. It is engraved with the words: "Made by me François Laillet in Saint Pierre de Durtal on 15 7bre 1765". This date is repeated on the outside bottom.
Height: 14.6 cm.
DURTAL, 18th century.

Very good condition, a chip is however reported at the end of the teat.
Extremely rare and perhaps unique piece, museum.  I have not encountered any other object from this small center for 50 years and my research in the specialized literature has been in vain. A recent search in the archives of the Civil Registry of Durtal (Parish of Saint-Pierre) however attests to the birth of François Laillet in 1731 and his two children born in 1760 and 1761.
