BiographyLéa Lafugie (1890-1972) is a French painter, also a writer, having studied at the Arts Décoratifs then graduated from the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
She stands out for the quality of her drawings.
After several exhibitions in Paris, notably at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, she decides to go on an adventure.
She begins her stay in the Middle East, then embarks for Asia in 1925 and spends five years in Tibet. She visited Burma, Tibet, Laos, India and Japan, where she was held prisoner during the Second World War.
Her travels are documented by her works, oils on canvas and watercolors, but also by her books.
In 1963 she published a book "Tibet, Land of Living Buddhas" where you can admire her illustrations as well as her photos. Throughout her years of travel, she drew and painted tirelessly and exhibited many times in the countries where she stayed.
