Azéma Savigny, father of 8 children including Berthe Savigny and Pierre Savigny de Belay, worked as a wine merchant, but his artistic temperament pushed him more to reproduce Cornish landscapes or Breton ports on canvas than to sell Muscadet or Bordeaux. He supported his large family from his painting, more than from his trading activity. He left remarkable studies of the banks of the Odet and the Steïr, the manors of the Park and the Stangala forest. A delicate colorist, he spent most of his career in Quimper. He retired to Concarneau after the war.
