Painter To Identify

Portrait of a woman dressed in black, holding a book in her hand on which is placed a rose branch. The woman's costume does not appear to be of French origin. The painting has some missing parts, mainly in the background. An oil inscription gives a date (1788), the initials E. BW., which must give the name of the painter and AE Suae . 38., the age of the model. The painting is framed in a molded and blackened wooden frame from the end of the 18th century. Without this, it measures 58.5 x 45 cm.
