Antonio Ambrogio Alciati (Vercelli, September 5, 1878 - Milan, March 7, 1929) was an Italian painter.
After his early studies at the Institute of Fine Arts in Vercelli, in 1887 he moved to Milan where he attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts under Vespasiano Bignami and Cesare Tallone, succeeding him in 1920 to the chair of figure painting.
He established himself, especially as a portrait painter, revealing influences of Tranquillo Cremona for the impasto of colors and Giovanni Boldini for the frivolity and vaporousness of some female figures (Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Milan and Rome). Several of his works remain in private collections, such as his portrait of Javotte Bocconi Manca di Villahermosa made in 1917, now kept at Bocconi University.
He was initiated into Freemasonry on September 1, 1914, in the Galileo Ferraris Lodge in Vercelli, belonging to the Grand Orient of Italy; he became Master on November 21, 1922.
