"Pair Of Candelabra, Clodion In Bronze, 19th Century"
Pair of gilt and patinated bronze candelabras depicting mythological child figures, attributed to the style of Clodion (1738-1814), a famous 18th-century French sculptor. Each candelabra rests on a circular base of veined black marble, adorned with a row of gilt bronze beads, giving the whole a great elegance. The shafts are composed of finely chiseled bronze figures with a brown patina: one represents a faun child (half-man, half-goat), the other a Bacchic child crowned with vine branches. These figures support three light arms richly decorated with foliage and volutes, surmounted by sockets in the form of stylized candles.
