Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) - Japan's most famous woodblock print artist. His best-known work is a series of ukiyo-e woodblock prints entitled 36 Views of Mount Fuji, produced between 1826 and 1833. His art greatly influenced both indigenous and Western artists, especially the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.
