François Moreau was a pupil of their father Auguste Moreau and their uncle Mathurin Moreau, exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1886, he obtained an honorable mention that same year and a medal in 1889 with his plaster cast entitled the wasp.
The young woman represented is draped and coiffed in the antique style and displays the softness of art nouveau.
