"Floral Maiden" - Art Nouveau Bronze Bust, An Strunc, 1901

Bronze bust - An Strunc, dated 1901

Signed on the back “An Strunc” - Foundry: BENDELMAYER & CERVENKA, PRAHA - VII

Height: 45 cm

This elegant bronze bust, dated 1901, is a fine example of late Art Nouveau sculpture, made by sculptor An Strunc and cast at the renowned Bendelmayer & Cervenka foundry in Prague (Praha - VII), as indicated by the signature stamped on the back base.

Material: dark patinated bronze with slight green hues

Technique: lost-wax casting

Signature: “An Strunc” engraved on the back of the sculpture

Foundry: “BENDELMAYER & CERVENKA PRAHA - VII”

Dating: 1901

Height: 45 cm

The idealized and sensual female figure features a nude bust surrounded by stylized floral elements typical of Symbolist and Art Nouveau language.

This sculpture embodies the canons of the Central European Belle Époque, with strong references to the Vienna Secession and Symbolist aesthetics, in which the female figure is celebrated as an emblem of beauty, nature, and mystery.
