Important Mazarin chandelier attributed to Ernest MOTTHEAU (1841-1905), in gilded and chiseled bronze with eight light arms decorated with flowered vases, piastres, gadroons and lambrequins revealing alternating heads of Bacchus and female masks. After a model by André Charles BOULLE. 19th century. Very beautiful quality of execution. This chandelier has its original patina with its pretty gilding underneath. History: Ernest Mottheau (1841-1905) began his career as a chaser at the age of 12 as an apprentice. He became a worker at 16 and founded his own company at 23 in 1864. His bronze factory, located in the rue Saint Sébastien then in the Marais in Paris, produced chandeliers and candelabras. The Mottheau house participated in various universal exhibitions in the second half of the 19th century and received a grand prize in 1887, which was recognized with a gold medal and then a reward in 1889.
