An emblematic subject of the great 19th century animal sculptor, Antoine-Louis Barye, the lion with a snake, was presented at the Salon in 1833. A cast adorns the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. This bronze proof with a nuanced green patina is a posthumous cast of fine craftsmanship and in very good original condition. It is signed Barye intaglio on the pedestal.
