Kachan-dabir Silk Carpet, Iran – Rare Collectible

Kachan-Dabir rug 100% silk, woven in Iran at the beginning of the 20th century. A masterpiece from the workshop of the famous master Dabir, a student of the great master Mortachemi, this museum-quality piece is remarkable for its finesse, its unique composition without a central medallion – highly prized for decoration – and its near-new condition. The ruby field is decorated with stylized diamond-shaped palmettes and floral bulbs, enhanced with fine stems and polychrome star-shaped foliage. The main navy blue border is richly decorated with lyrical jars and multicolored floral medallions, evoking the refined aesthetic of Persian miniatures and Safavid carpets of the 17th century, during the reign of Shah Abbas I, nicknamed the "Persian Louis XIV". Technical characteristics: velvet, warp, weft and fringes entirely in silk. Motif: "Quince flowers". Dimensions: 335 x 222 cm. Bibliographic references: E. Gans-Ruedin - Splendor of the Persian carpet Roger Bechirian, Armen Engeldian - Beauty of the Oriental carpet, Knowledge of the carpet
