Flemish, late 17th – early 18th century.
Measures 31.5 x 19 x 16.2 cm.
A finely carved walnut group portraying two animated putti, sensitively modelled in dynamic contraposto. One kneels, semi-draped, with his face uplifted and right arm raised in expressive gesture; the other stands nude beside him, his right arm similarly elevated, his head turned to dexter in lively engagement. The figures are set upon an integral, naturalistic base. The group displays a confident hand and a spirited Baroque sensibility typical of late 17th- to early 18th-century Flemish carving.
