"Meissen Porcelain Orchestra (affenkappelle)"
Magnificent and very rare orchestra of 19 monkeys in Meissen porcelain, a German work around 1900.The set includes : 1 conductor and 18 statuettes of musician monkeys (19 pieces in total !) on the terraces highlighted with rocaille ornaments in relief enhanced with polychrome gold decoration marked, crossed swords in blue.
Model after Johan Joachim Kaendler.
Height of the statuettes = 13 cm and for the conductor = 17 cm.
The Meisen set is in good condition, (some minimal chips).
