Napoleon III Transition Style Secretary
Charming secretary in rosewood veneer and marquetry. It opens with four drawers and a flap, front and sides with projections. Marquetry decorated with floral foliage, ears of wheat and ribbons in fillet frames. The flap reveals two inlaid drawers and a red leather top. Fluted uprights, arched feet. Ormolu ornamentation: keyholes, shell falls and attributes, sabots and apron with rocaille decoration. Royal Red marble top, oak frame. Signed Bernoux et Compagnie in Paris with a stamp. Circa 1880.
