This beautiful oil on canvas depicts a lively scene around the old fountain of the 2 squares in Cotignac in the Var; a work with great charm, in an impressionist style where the light which bathes this square and its buildings brings an atmosphere of serenity and tranquility specific to Provençal life. Oil signed André Beronneau (1896-1973) lower left and located on the back of the frame. André Beronneau, born in Bordeaux in 1896, is a landscape painter (notably Mediterranean landscapes). He exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants from 1925 to 1935.
Oil on canvas in good condition, cleaned and revarnished, presented in a gilded wooden frame.
