Knight of the Legion of Honor on December 9, 1951 by the French government. Her traumatic experiences during these wars would strongly influence her work, giving it an often dark and tortured tone. Trained at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, then at the Académie Julian in Paris, where she studied under several notable artists such as Alexandre François Bonnardel, Marie Laforge, Marcel Baschet, Henri Royer, and Édouard Toudouze. Her work is inspired by many artists and writers, including Rembrandt, Émile Zola, and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. She mainly painted women, whether they were members of her family or portraits of gypsies. The latter theme represents the majority of her work. Thanks to her numerous artistic achievements, she was awarded a number of prizes at exhibitions in salons, including the Prix de l'État in Paris in 1910 and the First Prize at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon. A post-impressionist painter, which is very easily discernible in her works, she was inspired not by previous eras but by her own time, which ensures her a completely accurate point of view.
